Message from our Executive Officer

 I am pleased to announce the Banksia Newsletter has been recommenced and I look forward to updating you on a quarterly basis of the work at Banksia.   In the April Newsletter, I have provided an overview of significant outcomes for Banksia over the last 12 months.  This can be read in more detail in our Main Menu Heading, "Newsletters".

I wish to acknowledge the outstanding contribution of two people.  This year both John Richardson and Damian Neylon have resigned from their roles as the President and Vice President.  We are very fortunate to have had John and Damian in either of these roles for a number of years.  The staff and volunteers appreciated their leadership during that period.  Both John and Damian are  remaining on the Committee.  The new President and Vice President are Paul Adcock and Paul Oppy. 

 

 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 

I also wish to highlight the development of the Consumer Reference Group in late 2009 has enabled a platform for Banksia to ensure patient and carer information remains useful and is written in a way that is understood from the patient and carer perspective.  In late March, a  revised Information Kit for patients and carers was completed as a result of the work of this reference group.  The new Kit will be launched in 2010 National Palliative Care Week which is between 23 and 29 May.  For further information please utilise this link to Palliative Care Australia's website www.palliativecare.org

Banksia is always looking for a window of opportunity, to fulfil informal and formal speaking engagements.  We are  seeking new partners in the community.  We look forward to receiving any requests in this area.
