From October 2011 Newsletter

Our Annual General Meeting was held on
Thursday 27 October. Our guest speaker
was Claudia Giugni from Palliative Care
Australia. Claudia provided an overview
of the National Standards Assessment
Program, focussing on the outcomes from
a national perspective, and Banksia’s
involvement in the program.

The AGM provided the first opportunity to
distribute our 2010/2011 Annual Reports.
We welcome any individual or
organisation, to contact Banksia, if you
would like a copy of the Annual Report.
The AGM is an opportunity to celebrate
the achievements of the last 12 months,
and to thank and acknowledge staff and
volunteers, for the great outcomes, that
would not be possible, without their hard
work and support. In this years report, we
have included some personal reflections
from staff, volunteers, carers and patients,
which provide some interesting insight,
into the work of Banksia.

In September this year, we had a National
Standards Assessment Program peer
visit ,and we are pleased to convey we
received very positive feedback, which has
been very helpful, as we move forward.

A major process recently
undertaken by Banksia, in October, was
the organisational wide review by the
Australian Council of Health Care
Standards. This was a review of our four
year accreditation status. The preliminary
advice is, Banksia has fared very well in
meeting its accreditation standards. We
look forward to reporting the official results
in the next newsletter.

On behalf of the Committee of
Management, we congratulate all staff and
volunteers in achieving their 2, 5, 10 and
15 years of service, as presented at the
AGM.  In particular, the 15 year awards
received by our volunteers, Trish Phillips
and Lyn Geer, were a major achievement.
