Referrals Anyone can make a referral, providing the person requiring the care agrees. Please telephone us or download a referral form.
Eligibility Banksia’s services are available to patients of all ages in the advanced stages of a life threatening illness living in the Cities of Banyule, Whittlesea and the Shire of Nillumbuk. Care and support is offered to the whole family. Patients can be discharged or readmitted as appropriate.
Cost The services are free to all persons within our service area. There may be associated costs depending on your individual needs, for example Royal District Nursing Services and some equipment. |

Services we provide · Home based services with 24 hour telephone availability to discuss and concerns you may have. · Co-ordination of health services at home and close liaison with your local doctor. · Specialists in palliative are nursing who have expertise in controlling symptoms, for example pain. · Support via trained volunteers, for example transport and respite in the home. · Direct nursing care provided by Royal District Nursing Services. · Palliative care doctors available for consultancy at home. · Complementary services including massage therapy, art therapy and music therapy. · Social work and family support. · Support for children. · Pastoral Care. · Patient and Carer Support groups. · Bereavement support – individual counselling and groups · Liaison and referral to other community services such as pastoral care, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, council services such as home help and meals on wheels. · We liaise with culturally diverse agencies to respond to the needs of Non-English speaking backgrounds. |
