Jane Picton joined the Banksia Palliative Care Service Committee of Management, in August 2009.  She qualified as a Social Worker in the United Kingdom and worked in child protection, fostering and adoption. After arriving in Australia in 1974, she continued with similar family social work for a number of years.  She then worked for over 20 years as a counsellor and mediator with separated parents, in the Family Court and with Victorian Legal Aid.  

Jane believes she can perhaps contribute to the service because of her extensive experience with families who have experienced grief and loss, there being a similarity with those families who lose a member through death.  She is looking forward to being part of an important community service.
